A ring

This is the Alchemical symbol for Mercury. When I saw it, I was reminded of a signet ring. I'm not sure which character it would be fore but I like the design.

mercury rules communication, travel, technology. mercury transcended both the solid and liquid states, both earth and heaven, both life and death. It symbolized Hermes himself, the guide to the Above and Below

This is very similar to the signet ring worn by my mentor, Dr. John D. Locke Ph.D. M.D. during most of his life.

It however lacks the incorporation of the astrological symbol for Aries at the bottom, but the rest of the graphical elements making up the whole symbol, the earth, the crescent moon, the sun, etc. are all present.

Locke wore it in deference to his namesake, (Dr. John Dee, 16th century physician, philosopher, and alchemist, chief spiritual advisor to Elizabeth I, and founder of the British Secret Service, then a more ritualistic than military organization.)

A description of the development of Dee's sigil can be found in Dee's 1564 publication, "Monas Heiroglyphica," particularly in Theorum 1 though Theorum 12.
