Wyckhaven: Ghostbusters

Outline for the plot.

What is known:

Events:
1. Newspaper from Houston Texas dated 1986 had the word 'RUN' on the back in blood. It came through a rip or tear in the gauntlet up on the roof of the warehouse.
1.a. There was a shriek of fear and a growl of anger before the rip closed.
1.b. Some might know that Wyck had spent some time in Texas before coming into California.
2. Emma reported seeing that the otherside of the tear was foresty but that all leaves and things were 'perfect' in their creation.
3. The lights went out as usual but played the Ghostbusters song before some of the lights broke.
4. Wyck's curse kicked in but he tried to keep his mouth shut. (I don't have the quote saved that he gave)  but it mentioned something about the 'King of Fall'.

=Update 7/30/16=

  1. Kumo realized that the 'ghost' that has been messing with the lights and which may have sent the newspaper through the tear in the gauntlet may be, in fact, Wyck - at some future point in time.
  2. Thinking through this path, she and Wyck concluded that if this was the case, then "Future-Wyck" might have sent messages or warnings back through time.
  3. Kumo had the idea to check out the wand that she had crafted for "Present-Wyck (aka: Wyck)" and a key was discovered at Wyck's place in the box that Kumo gave him.
  4. The key's fob has a design that matches the tattoo on the back of Wyck's neck.
  5. The presence of a key, plus the recent completion of the multi-colored doors, lead to one conclusion: the key was to be used to open one of them.
  6. With Zoe and Maglock, Kumo and Wyck tried the key on the Red Door.
    1. What they found is described here.

Plot: Bad Moon

Something has turned the moon BLOOD RED and it is affecting supernatural creatures throughout the city. Although the phenomonea of the Blood Moon is not -necessarily- something supernatural, the rising of this moon has caused Garou to rage more quickly and vampires to act nearly drunk. For every night the Blood Moon is in the sky the whole of the supernatural world has been lit up and no one knows why.

  • This is basically a quest to uncover what has caused the moon to turn red unnaturally, stop the effect it is having upon the Supernatural community and maintain some level of control within the city over the Masquerade / Veil / etc.

Specifics

  • Vampires are walking around as though they were drunk, high on catnip or had just drained a friggen fairy.
  • Garou are entering into their rage-phase far more easily than they should. What's worse - they are -STAYING- enraged.
  • Magi are noticing that odd plants are taking over abandoned fields and lots throughout the city, growing at an alarming rate every night the blood moon is in the sky.

Plot: Blessings of Bathory

The local museum is showing off a bit of jewelry from famous women. There's the crown of this, the ring of that and so on. Nothing too interesting for most people but one item in particular has the promise of evil. Within the show is the blood ruby pendant of none other than Countess Elizabeth Bathory, the famous 'Bloody Countess' who was known to bathe in the blood of virgins to retain her youth and beauty. With the jewelry on display, several oddities have been happening at the museum. For every night that the show has been open to the public the museum's security alarms have all gone off at the stroke of midnight. Specifically the internal motion sensors have registered movement in the Natural History wing where an Egyptian Mummy is on display. Coincidence, right?

Rumors

  • Vampires would get word that some 'interesting' artifacts might have arrived in town. Tremere, especially, might be on the look out for items in the display.
  • Magi might have gotten word that there are parties interested in the jewelry on display and need one piece in particular for something dark. Perhaps there is a wonder hidden among the baubles?

Plot: Gardens of Stone

The local cemetery in the city has had some statues go missing. Not just stolen or broken as sometimes happens when kids get bored and want to blow off steam - these states are moved.

One of the statues was found in town in front of someone's door - as though poised to knock. Another was found in someone's backyard as though it was looking up at a window. Still even more odd, people have noticed that new statues have begun appearing in the cemetery. The grounds keeper has not been able to spot how the thieves have made off with them or who has donated their replacements but he's awful spooked by it.

One of the 'new' statues that have been found in the cemetery looks strikingly like someone who was reported missing a few nights ago. He was on his way home - walking since his car had a flat tire and never made it back. Someone reported that the statue looks -uncannily- like the missing man, even down to the set of his eyes. It would seem as though someone were playing a very cruel joke.

Plot: Querquetum

Missing children. It's always every parent's worse nightmare. Where have they gone? Did they run away? Did someone take them? In this case - it's almost like they just sleep-walked out of the house and were never seen again.
  • This is basically a quest to uncover what is pulling the children from their beds, where are they going, who is responsible and how to stop it.

Music

Specifics

  • By the time that this event will go active, at least a dozen kids will have been 'taken'.
  • Several witnesses, mostly those folks who are out late at night doing gods-know-what, have reported seeing the children walking through the city in a dazed, sleeping state and heading towards the forest.
  • The eye-witness accounts have all been dismissed due to the poor character of the person making the statement; drug dealers, known prostitutes, etc.

Rumors

  • Garou: Whispers of the spirits of nature suggest that a small corner of the forest has been claimed by a dark power and they refuse to enter.
  • Magi: Word has it that there may be a Verbena-Barabi working in the area. Who knows what she is up to but you can bet she's probably the one behind these kidnappings.
  • Vampires: One young vamp was reported to have stopped one of the older children. The child -threw- the vampire across the city block without even exerting effort. That's when the witness' statement gets a bit iffy. The witness claims that vines shot up out of the ground and impaled the vampire - immobilizing him until the sun rose the next morning.

What is Known

  • By the time that this event will go active, at least a dozen kids will have been 'taken'.
  • Several witnesses, mostly those folks who are out late at night doing gods-know-what, have reported seeing the children walking through the city in a dazed, sleeping state and heading towards the forest.

Plot: Queen of Hearts

The infamous serial killer has struck again. Four murders in as many weeks. Each victim left with their heart ripped out of their chest. Every city in America has had to deal with a killer in one form or another in its history and Prospect is no stranger to death. These murders, however, are different. The victims are random - ranging in age, sex, body type and occupation. They are found at various points around the city in no obvious pattern. One thing is certain - the hearts were not cut out by a knife. Damage to the bodies indicate that the ribs were broken -in- to the chest cavity as though the person was struck with some heavy object that broke through the rib cage and then extracted the heart. NO defensive wounds have been found on any of the victims suggesting that they did not fight their attacker in any way.
  • This is basically a quest to uncover what is ripping the hearts out of these people, what they are doing with them, and how to stop it. The event should have the over-arching theme of a Jack the Ripper case.

Music

Specifics

  • Victim #1: Black Betty. A caucasion woman in her late thirties with raven-black hair of average height and weight and mother of two. Waitress.
  • Victim #2: Tiny Tim: A small man, only eighteen years old and a student at the University. Small in size, only five-foot-six. Single.
  • Victim #3: Sunshine Sue: A young woman with blonde hair wearing a sunflower printed top in her mid-twenties. Counseling case worker. By all accounts a beautiful woman.
  • Victim #4: Mighty Mark: A powerfully built man in his late twenties. Excellent physical condition and an ex-marine now working in private security.

Rumors

  • Street: A prostitute swears that she saw #4 speaking with an older woman only twenty minutes before he was found dead.
  • Magi: The hearts were taken - someone trying to ramp up their life magic? A rote to rewrite their age?
  • Vampires: A vampire could easily rip the heart out of a victim but why? Such a waste of blood and so much attention. Wait - wasn't there a Nosferatu in Chicago about 60 years ago that liked to kill men that way?

Plot: Don't be Afraid of the Dark

The black fog that killed five people is no more, but questions remain unanswered. The connections between the five victims lead one to believe that this is not an ending but just a beginning. In this next chapter, the characters will be faced with greater challenges, more deadly foes and answers that may leave each of them fearing the whispers in the dark.
  • This is basically a quest to continue the investigations into the deaths and possible motivations / origin of who or what may have called the Black Fog to kill them.

RP Hooks

  • Investigation RP
  • Scavenger Hunt RP
  • Street-Level RP
  • Law Enforcement RP
  • Occult RP
  • Medium / Wraith RP?
  • Bureaucratic RP

The Dead

  • Victim #1: John Roberts: College Student. Didn't see what came for him. One minute it was just incredibly black around him and the next he was gone. #1 was a residential college student (not from the area) who seemingly has no connection to anyone -BUT- the place he was coming home from was owned by #2.
  • Victim #2: Greg Bevel: Landlord. Coming home from his grandson's game. He got out of the car as the fog surrounded him. The lights went out of the street light, the air grew cold and everything went quiet. He felt a pain on his ankle, then on his hand and then a great wind seemed to swirl around him before he fell to the ground and everything went blurry. #2 was a crooked as an Appalachian Highway. He was gouging people for rent all the time - had low-end properties all over town and was sort of an 'up and comer' in property development. He lived fairly modestly (to keep his wealth hidden) but if he were to sell everything off he was worth millions.
  • Victim #3: Millica Meadows: Secretary. Out walking her dog when everything went her pet started to freak out and bark at...nothing. Then the whole street corner went black except for a small pool of light under a street lamp, the air grew so cold she could almost see her breath before she noticed the eyes.#3, the Secretary, worked in the City Development Commission. She was a data processor who handled all of their GIS (Geographic Information Systems) work concerning the plotting out of subway lines, Sewer lines, etc. No enemies, no drama. Not even a parking ticket.'
  • Victim #4: Evan Hudson: Engineer. No clothing. Only a towel near by when found. Towel shows only an image of a hot shower and that he was not alone. There was someone -else- with him in the shower who also used the towel. Difficult to tell which image is the dead man and which isn't. The room went black, the shower's heat was stolen away and a fierce wind -sucked- Evan out of the shower onto the floor. He was dead in seconds.#4 was secretly gay. Though married and had a house, wife, 2.5 kids out in the 'burbs, he also maintained a small apartment in the city. And wouldn't ya know it - the apartment was owned by #2. He was a civic engineer and was one of the consulting engineers on a project to create a new metro line under the city.'
  • Victim #5: Tonya Maynard: Antique's Dealer: Walking home from the parking garage she uses near her apartment. The attack happened when she was in the stairwell. Similar circumstances with the sudden loss of light, cold temperature and strong breeze but this time there was something different. This time she did not 'just' fall dead. She spoke words. She drove them back, for a time, at least. She -killed- some of the...somethings. In the end there was a pain in her back. Not the sting felt by the others but something sharp and long; a blade. She was stabbed. When she turned she recognized the face though it was blurry in this vision and her last word was simply, "You!" #5 ran an antique store which is now closed. The store is small, open only by appointment and seemingly successful enough to keep the bills paid. No one of her business neighbors can ever remember talking to her for any length of time but she seemed 'nice but preoccupied'. #5 was also known to be at the shop at all hours and was rumored to live up on the second floor. She had no website, no 'modern' advertising.
  • A name was discovered for the Fog; an ancient and dread name that even the Wraith fear.

Specifics

  • Five people have been 'murdered'.
  • Though the police are still waiting dental recognition from the piles of bones - several eye witness have described seeing the victim walking on the street, consumed by the fog and only the bones and clothes remain.
  • The victims are seemingly random, having no commonality to them.
  • The 'fog' moves about the city, never appearing in the same place twice.

Rumors

  • Vampire: It is not impossible for a Lasombra's shadows to be mistaken for a 'black fog' and they are behind this - but to what end?
  • Mage: Black Fog? Well - that's one way of hiding one's effects from the mundanes - but why strip the bones?
  • Garou: Every place where skeletons have been found after the fog hit reeks of death energy and, oddly enough, a combination of Wyld and Wyrm.

Countdown

Wyck's sketches of late have been little more than doodles. A few people at the Wolf's Mantle Tavern, have, however, figured out that the doodles have layers and meaning to them.

One such doodle was a series of multi-color dots that formed a circle. Looked at more closely the dots formed the pattern of a particle collision necessary for the 'thrust' in Aerodyne Engines. This version, however, is a more refined, efficient reaction that would allow for much larger dynes.

One of the 'doodles' is a series of numbers. XX-XX-XX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XX:XX:XX . XX-XX-XX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XX:XX:XX (you get the idea). One of the more recent ones has a date that's approaching and a location in the bad lands.

Axiom has asked to speak with Wyck to try and unravel the meaning behind the 'doodles'.

In time they may discover that the messages are from the future.

The 'visions' that Wyck is picking up on are actually from a street-seer that he knows named Dalia. She is sending him the messages in an attempt to help avert some great cataclysm that she sees coming to burn many of the cities in LATMA.

She is a semi-known prophetess amongst the Lowteks in LATMA who is often proven wrong or more inaccurate than accurate; until now.

Another player in this wonderful countdown is Wyck's latest boss; Martin Bishop. Mister Bishop is a major player within the Corporate Center; controlling plenty of resources both financial and corporeal. Recently Mr. Bishop has employed Wyck to coordinate several 'living statue' parties where he and his guests enjoy the company of several young persons who are in various states of undress while they pose as 'statues' for their parties.
